Six Nobel Peace Prize Winners call on Prime Minister Harper to put Climate Change on the Agenda!

‘Six Nobel Peace Laureates have added their voices to the call on Prime Minister Harper to do the right thing and make climate change a priority at the G8 and G20. These exceptional six women work tirelessly towards a more just world, and know that without action on climate change, this will be much more difficult. There is still time for the Prime Minister to stop trying to sideline climate change and ensure world leaders discuss one of the biggest crises facing humanity at these important summits.’ See the letter here.

Canada wins a Fossil of the Day in Bonn at the UN negotiations

Canada earns a first place Fossil of the Day for reducing its mitigation commitment after Copenhagen to the same level pledged by the United States of America. New report from Greenpeace: The Climate Solution? It's an energy (r)evolution

'The Energy [R]evolution demonstrates how the world can get from where we are now, to where we need to be in terms of phasing out fossil fuels, cutting CO2 while ensuring energy security. This includes illustrating how the world’s carbon emissions from the energy and transport sectors alone can peak by 2015 and be cut by over 80 percent by 2050. This phase-out of fossil fuels offers substantial other benefits such as independence from world market fossil fuel prices as well as the creation of millions of new green jobs.' 'Everybody knows that Canada has walked away from its Kyoto targets, but you may not have heard yet just how fast they’re sprinting in the other direction.

In recent weeks, a chorus of leaders – including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the EU’s Jose Manuel Barroso, and Mexican President Felipe Calderon – have pointedly called on Canada to step up its effort on climate, both at home and during the G8/G20 meetings it will host later this month.'
