Poll shows climate change is a G8 priority for Canadians A recent poll from Nanos shows that for the upcoming G8 and G20 meetings in Canada, Canadians believe that climate change should be our number one priority. This is one more example of this government being out of touch with what Canadians want. Shortly after the release of the poll former Prime Minister, Paul Martin, also called on the government to make climate change a focus on the G20 agenda. Check out Paul Martin's interview with the Pembina Institute: Founder of the G20: Put climate change on the agenda
New federal climate plan admits minimal action on emissions Matthew Bramley, the Pembina Institute "Yesterday afternoon, Environment Canada very quietly posted on its website the annual Climate Change Plan required by the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act. This is an important document because it's the only place where the government provides a full list of its measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and estimates the emission reductions from each measure." Organization goes public with threat to government funding support - show your support A statement from Graham Saul, Executive Director of Climate Action Network Canada: "The Canadian Council for International Cooperation is a recognized leader in international cooperation and an institution that, like Climate Action Network, brings organizations across the country and the world together around critical issues. It is deeply disturbing to see the systematic termination of core government funding to institutions that strengthen our country's reputation and ability to be meaningful actors on global issues that affect us all. Organizations such as CCIC should be considered assets that can inform and support all aspects of international cooperation in Canada. We sincerely hope that CCIC receives the government support necessary to continue its important work." Click here for the full statement and press release. Please visit CCIC's website to see how you can take action and show your support. International campaign launches in the lead up to the G8/G20
